It's Official: Halo 3 has four player, online co-op

This just in from http://joystiq.com/:

Speaking at a Microsoft press conference in Amsterdam earlier today, Bungie has confirmed, once and for all, that Halo 3 will feature two to four player online co-operative play over Xbox Live. This news comes after months of rumors and slip-ups, but is extremely appreciated nonetheless.Details are extremely sparse at the moment (chugging a Mountain Dew while snowboarding with a live bear extreme) but we can tell you this: we have Bungie's word. Bungie will be issuing an update themselves on this matter over at their website later today, so be patient and we'll have further information for you as soon as it rolls in.

Xbox 360 the #1 searched console on the net

According to web tracking company Hitwise, the Xbox 360 has overtaken the Wii as the most searched console on the web (for the first time since the 360s launch). At first we assumed the number increase was do to hardware problems we've seen from the 360. But when analyzing the top Xbox 360 searches (as in this top ten chart above), we don't really see searches regarding the topic. What this will mean for Microsoft keeping its lead over Nintendo is yet to be seen.

Viva Piñata coming to Nintendo DS

OK let me start off by saying that we don't normally post on other systems as you have heard Rod smack say on the zune cast many times this is an Xbox only zone. But RARE is owned by Microsoft witch owns Xbox witch is where the first viva game can be played so in the famous words of Korn "its all in the family" lol
Now that i justified myself here's what joystiq has to say about it ..
During a Viva Piñata panel at Comic-Con, Rare announced a Nintendo DS
version of their well-received Xbox 360 title, Viva Piñata. A Rare developer answered some basic questions on the PinataIsland.info forum, quelling fears that the title would not be developed by Rare – he said, "Very definitely 'yes' on this one. We have a dedicated handheld dev team." – and that the gameplay would be different – he said, "Game play wise, yes. It's the same game ... ." Still no word on whether or not the game will take advantage of the DS' Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. While it's not a huge surprise – Shane Kim intimated as much to 1UP – it's curious to see Microsoft publishing a title on a competitor's platform. If they can get the Pokemon crowd hooked on Viva Piñata via the enormously popular DS, then we're betting some of those kids just may grow up to be 360 owners.

LEGO Indiana Jones game announced

News out of Comic Con 07 that we will be getting an LEGO Indiana Jones game in 2008. here's the full press release.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - July 27, 2007 - LucasArts and TT Games today announced that LEGO® Indiana Jones®: The Videogame [working title] will whip onto game consoles everywhere in summer 2008. Developed by the same team at Traveller's Tales that created the LEGO Star Wars™ series, LEGO Indiana Jones presents a tongue-in-cheek take on the first three cinematic adventures of pop culture's most iconic archaeologist, including Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

"LucasArts and TT Games are setting the bar for next-generation family entertainment with the LEGO Star Wars franchise, and our incredible relationship continues with LEGO Indiana Jones," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game, LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favorite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy's original adventures for the first time."

"It has been a real joy to work with LucasArts on the LEGO Star Wars games. Indiana Jones is the perfect character for the next LEGO-based videogame adventure," said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. "Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!"

Lucasfilm Ltd. recently announced that the LEGO Group will begin releasing LEGO Indiana Jones playsets in January 2008. Meanwhile, LucasArts remains hard at work on its revolutionary, internally developed Indiana Jones videogame, which takes place a year after The Last Crusade in an original story overseen by George Lucas.

Oblivion hits Japan

Bethesda has announced that the Japanese version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has shipped. The Japanese version of Oblivion has been completely localized, with nearly a million words translated, including ever book in the game. The beginning and ending cinematics have also been re-recorded in Japanese, though spoken dialogue within the game remains in English with Japanese subtitles. And the Japanese version includes the Knights of the Nine content right on the disc (as will the upcoming Game of the Year Edition in America). The game recently received rave reviews from Famitsu -- the game scored a 38, a score equaled or bettered by only 44 titles since September of 1986 -- and production director Ashley Cheng expects the game to be a "breakout hit." Furthermore, Cheng expects it will sell a few Xbox 360s,too.

Only GTAIV on 360 is complete experience

Speaking to Games Radar, Rockstar spokesperson Hosi Simon had some interesting comments regarding the Xbox 360 version of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV. When asked about the Xbox 360 exclusive episodes and whether or not the PS3 version would receive any similar perks, Simon replied, "not that I can think of." and Simon admitted, "But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose."

Win a new copy of Transformers for the Xbox 360

Click here to find out how to win this game Win this game this week. We're back with another giveaway. This time we're calling out all graphic artist and podcasters. All are welcome to join in, but this will be a contest, not a giveaway. What we are looking for is everyone to submit they're best work. Be creative in "showing the love" for the Xbl10kclub. All graphic artists should submit either wallpapers (1600x1200 or larger/jpg.) or Zune backgrounds (240x320/jpg. only) that represent the 10k in some way. Take photgraphs, make a mascot, make your own logo, etc., and just make sure to add the 10k in there somewhere to be eligible. All podcasters and anyone else with recording equipment should submit short audio clips (1-3 min./6 MB max.) that relate to the 10k in some way. Write intros for our show, outros for our show, theme songs for the 10k, 10k jingles, sound bytes for the show, etc. Please keep it clean. Send all entries titled "I want Transformers" to contests@xbl10kclub.com, and make sure to add your Gamertag with your entry. We will pick our favorite, and we will announce it on 8/03/2007. -Use high resolution images when making your wallpapers. You can find these at teamxbox.com and various other big xbox sites.

-Don't stretch your images. By stretching images your wallpaper loses alot of its original quality.

-If you are good at hand art , feel free to create your wallpaper by hand. Earlier this year Luigi L. won Crackdown because of his custom drawn wallpaper.

-Don't steal wallpapers from other places and call them your own. We see and know all.

-When cutting out characters or shapes from images to use in your wallpaper make sure they are not left with jaggy edges.

-If you would like some design tips before submitting your final design feel free to post your work in our 360 Style Graphics Forum. Other community members will give you plenty of constructive criticism and tips to help you perfect your art.

Good luck to you all. We are looking forward to seeing some of the great work that this community is capable of.

Also announced at Comic Con 07 Microsoft's partnership with Warner Bros. to feature 300 in HD on the XBLM starting August 14th and offer exclusive Heroes Marketplace downloads prior to its season one release to HD DVD. The free Heroes content will include trailers, episode teasers, promotional materials and a free Marketplace download of the pilot episode in HD.

OXM Goes Digital on Xbox Live

According to kotaku.com The Official Xbox Magazine will be branching off onto Xbox Live, and will be offering its Magazine in digital form for 200 points an issue (USD$2.50)

Smart move. People don't read mags anymore, people don't buy mags for demos anymore, so for Microsoft it's a handy way to get official editorial content and reviews back out to a userbase that's neglecting their traditional methods.
Probably the only slight hiccup is that they're going to be offering demos as part of the deal. Including exclusive demos. Demos somewhere (anywhere) on Xbox Live that you'd need to pay to get access to? Even if you're a Gold subscriber? OXM-branded or not, that might not go down too well...

Rumor: 360 price cut in August

Now i don't normally like reporting on rumors but this one just might end up being fact so, According to The Hollywood Reporter, Microsoft is planning a $50 price cut for the 360 in August. The unnamed retail source cited claims that the price drop will occur on August 8, two weeks The reported reason for the price cut is that August is typically a slow time of year for console sales. Industry experts have been expecting a price cut for the Xbox 360 for some time now. Many expected Microsoft to announce one during E3. Given that all three current consoles have had plenty of time to gain their legs, the timing for a price cut couldn't be much better. A $50 cut across the board would have the Core competing with the Wii at $249 and even lower the Elite to $429, much lower than the PS3's $499 price point.

300 Themed Xbox 360

Bringing it Home Comic-Con kicks off with a look at special a 300 themed Xbox 360 Elite. That's right, Microsoft and Warner Bros. have partnered to create 300 (total) Xbox 360 Elites themed with 300 style blood splatter. But before you get too excited know that these Elites will only be given away during a special movie screening at Petco field during Comic-Con, which means we have no chance at winning one of these. Oh well threes always Ebay?
